Applying P3RM to help an Army programme make savings
What benefits did we deliver?
- Our assessment, toolset and methodology enabled the customer to follow consistent P3M processes, and improve the reporting of Management Information on progress, risks, issues, resources and project milestones.
- With this approach our client was able to manage their training and development programme and budget. This in turn allowed for savings to be made without a reduction in expertise.
- Our approach meant that a high level of skill was able to be achieved and maintained by the client’s team over a significant period of time.
What was the challenge?
Our team were part of a wider industry consortium of consultants providing technical support to the land environment tactical communications and information systems (LE TacCIS) programme. This was to ensure the programme had sufficiently robust management processes, project controls and schedule milestones to help ensure successful delivery.
What was our solution?
BMT Hi-Q Sigma’s specialism within the team was the provision of Project, Programme, Portfolio and Risk Management (P3RM) expertise. This included: a methodology for managing the project, terms of reference for the Programme Management Office, an implementation action plan, independent assessment of P3RM skills, an organisation learning strategy and a skills development plan. Our consultants also developed specific tools and databases to provide sufficient information to allow the management team to control and direct the portfolio.
